Jooa Kwon

Jooa Kwon is a Korean-born, Melbourne-based artist. With a background in biotechnology, her work explores the tension between logic and sensation. Her practice centres on critical transitions, where boundaries dissolve and transformation becomes continuous, portraying her identity at the edge of categories. Drawing from her experience in a performance-driven science field, her art arises from the tension between analytical thinking and intuitive feeling, made visible through layered processes using contrasting colours, shapes, and textures.These processes hold together what resists fixed meaning, exploring how conflicting identities can coexist without collapsing.
